Privacy Policy
Summary: FiNest does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any of your data. Everything you enter stays on your device.
FiNest ("the App", "we", "us", or "our") is a personal, offline vault that lets you store your own payment card details, secrets, bank information, and documents on your device for your personal reference. This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles your information. The terms governing your right to download, install, and use the App (including the paid licence purchased through the app store) are set out separately in our Terms of Use, which you should read together with this Privacy Policy.
1. Information we collect
We do not collect any personal information.
All information you enter into the App — including payment card numbers, and other card details, cardholder names, expiry dates, card nicknames, secrets, bank details, and any documents or images you add — is stored exclusively on your device. This data is never sent to us, to our servers (we operate none), or to any third party.
We do not use analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, tracking, or any other service that would transmit your information off the device. If you purchase the App, that one-time purchase is processed entirely by the app store (e.g. Google Play or the Apple App Store) using the payment details and account already held by the app store, and is not collected, seen, or processed by us; please refer to the app store’s own privacy policy and our Terms of Use for details of that transaction.
2. How your information is stored
- Your data is saved in your device's encrypted secure storage (the iOS Keychain on iPhone, and Android's encrypted storage on Android), provided by your operating system's secure storage facilities.
- Access to the App and to your stored details is protected by your device's biometric authentication (e.g. Face ID) or device passcode.
- The App functions fully offline and requires no network connection to operate.
Because your data is stored only on your device, the security of that data also depends on the security of your device (for example, keeping your device passcode and biometrics private and your operating system up to date).
3. Device permissions we request
The App may ask for the following permissions, each used solely on-device:
- Camera — to scan your payment card details using on-device text recognition. Images and recognized text are processed locally and are not uploaded anywhere.
- Photo Library — to let you select an existing image or document to store in the App.
- Face ID / Biometrics / Device passcode — to unlock the App and protect access to your stored information.
You can revoke any of these permissions at any time in your device settings.
4. Sharing and clipboard features
The App includes optional features that let you copy a value to your device clipboard or share a document or field using your device's standard share sheet. These actions only occur when you explicitly initiate them, and any resulting sharing is handled by your device's operating system and the destination you choose — not by us.
5. Data retention and deletion
Because your data never leaves your device, you are in full control of it:
- You can delete individual entries within the App at any time.
- You can use the "Delete All Data" option in Settings to erase all stored data.
- Uninstalling the App removes its locally stored data from your device.
6. Children's privacy
Our Terms of Use require all users to be at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority in their jurisdiction, and the App is not directed to, or intended for use by, children. Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, a "child" is an individual under the age of 18. We do not knowingly permit use of the App by children, and because the App collects no data at all, no personal information from any user, child or adult, is gathered by us.
7. Your privacy rights (India's DPDP Act, GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and others)
Privacy laws such as India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act), the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) grant rights to access, correct, delete, and port personal data, and to object to its processing.
Because FiNest does not collect, receive, store on our servers, transmit, sell, or share any personal information, we hold no personal data about you and act as neither a "data controller" nor a "data processor" (or, under the DPDP Act, a "Data Fiduciary" or "Data Processor") with respect to the information you store in the App. You exercise these rights directly by viewing, editing, and deleting your data within the App, all of which remains under your sole control on your device. Because no personal data is transmitted to us or to any third party, no cross-border transfer of personal data occurs, and the App's use does not require a Consent Manager or the grievance redressal process contemplated by the DPDP Act; any privacy-related queries can still be directed to the contact details in Section 9.
We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not engage in targeted advertising.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, through the App or store listing. Updates to the commercial and licensing terms governing your use of the App are instead addressed in our Terms of Use.
